One of the goal of the European Union is to connect with its citizens within each Member States and to work, like the Covenant of Mayors - Europe, directly with civil society and representatives.
Based on this principle, the European Parliament initiated the project “Building Europe with Local Councillors.” It is aimed at building an EU network of locally elected representatives from across the Member States so they can lead education and communication actions about European issues, environment, programmes, institutions, directly on the ground.
The European Commission Directorate-General for Communication is in charge of the implementation of the project under the 2021 Work Programme, along with the European Committee of the Regions.
In order to establish the network, local authorities (municipality, province, department or region) wishing to become ground partners of the EU, can apply to the call for applications and appoint a locally elected representative as member of the “Building Europe with Local Councillors” network.
If you are interested in taking part to this network, please fill out the online application form, accompanied by a signed declaration expressing interest and commitment to become a partner in communicating Europe
If the partnership is accepted, you will receive a metal plate acknowledging this strategic alliance!
